Active Countermeasures Station

“Apartment 14 is a space located in a two room apartment in a dormitory area of Kiev-Troyeschina. Long time it was considered unfavorable. After death of my grandmother in 2009, then there was an apartment repair, but her room was left untouched. Artists are invited to review the Soviet and post-Soviet experience in space, where lived people from another era.

In the period from October till November , there will be presented 3 projects ,by 3 different artists from 3 cities of Ukraine, Kiev, Dnipro, Kharkiv.”

“Active Countermeasures Station “ is part of the long-term project “Lower State”, which reflects a set of situations in the socio-political system which constitute a pillar of the existing social order and shape public opinion, questioning the moral, political, legal and ethical standards. The artist offers a second title – “Dissociative Resocialization” – a term whose definition helps delve into the field of his artistic research: it is a repeated socialization, which occurs throughout the individual’s life and changes his/her attitude, goals, norms and values.

It is a psychological defense mechanism. With this mechanism in operation, a person begins to perceive what is happening as if it were occurring to someone else. The artist analyzes this kind of situation in the new project as a symptom of the contemporary society’s condition.
