Layover Dreams
An exhibition of photography works that was created in a hotel which is currently not active and will be renovated in the future. The exhibition will take place at the hotel itself.
Gourvitch made these works about two years after the hotel was closed, after the staff and the last guest left. The series have theatrical or perhaps cinematic elements, that transform the space into a place that looks like as if it came out of a film noir movie. After the employees of the hotel and its temporary residents moved on, what is left are the dreams of this stopover. The objects and memories which were left behind turned into ghosts and relics of what once was, when the hotel was active in its previous existence.
